The Roland GP-9 Digital Grand is the premier model in the series, featuring the Piano Reality Modeling sound engine. This exciting proprietary technology ensures the piano is not reliant on a sampled sound from an acoustic piano but performs as its own majestic, authentic digital instrument!

The GP-9M is what happens when Roland takes their finest grand piano and asks what more it could do. Starting from the same foundation as the GP-9 — the Concert Modeling sound engine, the Hybrid Grand keyboard, the eight-speaker projection system — it then adds a set of capabilities that open the instrument up to an entirely different category of use. Moving keys, professional XLR outputs, and a built-in mic input make this the only piano in the GP series that works as hard for an audience as it does for the player sitting at it. At home, in a hotel lobby, on a restaurant floor, or on a performance stage — the GP-9M is built for all of it.

Built on the Best
The GP-9M starts where the GP-9 finishes. Same Concert Modeling engine, same Hybrid Grand keyboard with haptic vibration and long key pivot length, same eight-speaker projection system. Every element that makes the GP-9 Roland’s finest home grand is present and unchanged. What the GP-9M adds on top of that foundation is a entirely separate conversation — one about performance, entertainment, and versatility that no other piano in the range can have.
Keys That Move Themselves
The moving key function turns the GP-9M into a self-playing instrument that’s genuinely compelling to watch. Load a song from the onboard library, drop a MIDI file onto a USB stick, or pull content from Roland Cloud through the Piano App — and the keys move through the performance on their own, with full dynamic expression. For a home gathering, a hotel lobby, or a restaurant floor, it creates an experience that a static piano simply can’t replicate.
Wired for the Stage
The stereo XLR outputs let the GP-9M plug directly into a venue’s house audio system — independently of its onboard speakers. That means the piano can fill a large room through a professional sound system while still projecting naturally through its own eight speakers at the instrument itself. Output routing is flexible too: send the full mix, the dry piano only, the ambience only, or song playback independently to suit the needs of the space.
Sing Through the Piano
The built-in microphone input is a detail that matters more than it might seem. Plug in a dynamic mic and a performer’s voice comes through the GP-9M’s speaker system directly — no preamp, no mixer, no extra gear. For a solo performer at a venue or a pianist who sings at home, it simplifies the setup considerably and keeps the focus where it belongs: on the music.
Concert Tone, Every Time
The Piano Reality Concert Modeling engine sits above the standard Modeling engine used in the GP-9, recreating the behavior of a concert-grade acoustic grand with even greater depth and complexity. Notes bloom and decay the way they do on a great instrument in a great room. The six Piano Reality Ambience environments — Studio, Lounge, Concert Hall, Wooden Hall, Stone Hall, Cathedral — shape the acoustic character of the space around the sound, so the piano feels at home wherever it’s placed.
Touch That Rewards Serious Playing
The Concert keyboard’s long key pivot length creates an even, consistent weighted feel from the lowest bass note to the highest treble — closer to a full concert grand than any shorter key design can achieve. Haptic vibration adds subtle physical feedback through the keys that mirrors the resonance you’d feel on a fine acoustic instrument. Combined with progressive hammer action, escapement, and High Precision Sensing, it’s a keyboard that captures everything you put into it.
Make a Connection
Bluetooth audio streaming turns the GP-9M into a high-quality speaker system for backing tracks and accompaniment. Bluetooth MIDI connects wirelessly to music apps and DAWs. The Roland Piano App adds full remote control, access to digital scores, lesson content, and a growing library on Roland Cloud — including player piano content for the moving keys function.
Maintenance-Free, Always in Tune
Despite everything it does, the GP-9M never needs tuning, regulation, or humidity management. It will sound as good on its ten-thousandth performance as it did on its first. For a commercial venue, that reliability isn’t a convenience — it’s a genuine operational advantage.
Envision It in Your Space
Use Roland’s Piano AR feature to see how the GP-9M will look before it arrives. Scan your room or venue with a smartphone and a fully rendered 3D model appears in the space. Try both finishes, adjust the lid angle, move it around — until the picture looks exactly right.
