The Yamaha U1 TransAcoustic Upright starts with the Yamaha U1, crafted in Kakegawa, Japan, and adds a factory-installed TA3 TransAcoustic™ system. Play it as a traditional acoustic piano, turn the volume down for quiet evenings, or plug in headphones and practice in complete privacy.
A transducer drives the piano’s own spruce soundboard, so digital voices come from the wood of the instrument instead of from external speakers. In TransAcoustic™ Mode you set the volume as you play, and the sound fills the room the same way an acoustic piano does.
The U1 TransAcoustic offers 25 voices, led by samples of the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grands, with Binaural Sampling for lifelike sound through headphones. Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), Grand Expression Modeling and 256-note polyphony keep the digital sound responsive to your touch. The silencing pedal switches to SILENT Mode for practice any time of day or night. You can record MIDI or WAV audio, up to 80 minutes per song, to a USB flash drive, and connect by Bluetooth® to stream music through the soundboard or use the Smart Pianist app.
Underneath the technology is a complete U Series upright: a solid spruce soundboard and ribs from the Kitami Mill in Hokkaido, a V-Pro frame, an aluminum action rail and a soft-close fallboard. Pedals are damper, silencing and soft. Yamaha offers the TA3 U1 in Polished Ebony, Satin Ebony, Satin American Walnut, Polished Mahogany and Polished White; ask us which finishes are in stock.
