Yamaha CVP-909 Clavinova

The Yamaha CVP-909 Clavinova sits at the top of Yamaha’s upright-format Clavinova line. It builds on the CVP-905 with counterweighted keys for authentic grand-piano key return, the GP Response Damper pedal for realistic continuous-resistance pedal feel, a 9-inch touchscreen, and 1,605 preset voices. The audio system adds a 20 cm Spruce Cone woofer in a Twisted Flare Port enclosure for extended low-frequency response alongside dedicated midrange and tweeter drivers per channel. The Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial are rendered through binaural sampling, Virtual Resonance Modeling, and Grand Expression Modeling.

Dimensions

Height 56-1/8″ (1,426 mm)
Width 34-3/16″ (868 mm)
Depth 24-1/8″ (612 mm)
Weight 180 lb 12 oz (82 kg)

GrandTouch Keyboard with Counterweight and GP Response Damper

The CVP-909 uses the GrandTouch Keyboard: wooden keys, synthetic ebony and ivory key tops, escapement, and 88-key Linear Graded Hammers. Two components distinguish it from the CVP-905. Counterweighted keys add mass that simulates the physical inertia of a grand piano’s hammer mechanism, improving key return speed and consistency across all dynamic levels. The GP Response Damper applies variable resistance to the sustain pedal throughout its full travel, reproducing the continuous physical feedback of an acoustic grand pedal rather than the binary response of a standard digital piano pedal.

1,605 Voices and 675 Accompaniment Styles

The CVP-909 carries the largest voice library in the upright Clavinova range: 1,605 preset voices, 58 Drum/SFX Kits, and 480 XG Voices. Accompaniment styles number 675, with seven fingering modes and full intro/main variation/fill/ending controls. One Touch Setting automatically pairs the correct voice and tempo to each selected style.

CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial with Binaural Sampling

Both core piano voices were recorded key-by-key with binaural microphone technology. Virtual Resonance Modeling and Grand Expression Modeling render the harmonic and expressive complexity of the CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial in real time, including sympathetic string resonance, hammer variation, and tonal changes across the full dynamic range.

Multi-Component Audio System with Spruce Cone Woofer

The CVP-909 drives 16 cm woofers, 5 cm midrange drivers, and 2.5 cm dome tweeters in two channel enclosures, plus a 20 cm Spruce Cone speaker in a dedicated sub-bass cabinet with a Twisted Flare Port for reduced turbulence and extended low-frequency response. This same architecture is used in the CVP-909GP.

Connectivity

Two headphone jacks, microphone input with Vocal Harmony processing (54 Preset + 60 User), MIDI IN/OUT/THRU, Bluetooth Audio, two USB TO DEVICE ports, and one USB TO HOST port. Internal storage of approximately 2 GB supports full session recording in WAV and MP3.
