The Aliquot is the main feature of the Duplex Scaling. This moveable metal plate with ridges that the strings sit on between the Bridge and Hitch pin is moveable and placed in a position to increase sympathetic resonance. Duplex Scaling is a feature from the Yamaha Gc1 through the CFX concert grand.
The Sound Board is the speaker of the piano. The Yamaha Gc2 baby grand pianos sound board are composed of hand selected Spruce from Yamaha’s Kitami Wood Mill in Hokkaido, Japan.
Attached underneath the soundboard, 11 spruce ribs are glued to the sound board and notched into the rim, this is done to add strength and distribute the sound vibrations.
The Spruce wood used for the Sound board and Ribs is air dried than put in a Kiln and is seasoned to a particular level for the pianos final destination.
Also notice the Hand Notched Bridge this 2 piece bridge transfers the vibrations from the string to the sound board making sweet, sweet music to the ear.

The Yamaha Gc2 is the first baby grand that features the tone collector which is featured in the rest of the Yamaha baby grand and grand line up.
The Yamaha Gc2 baby grand piano is the descendant of the Yamaha G2. Freddy Mercury from the band “Queen” had a Yamaha G2 in his home.
The Gc2 hammer features voiced white tonal felt that is glued and secured with a T – fastener to it’s spruce core.
This hammer construction provides the optimal tone and coloring when playing “Bohemian Rhapsody” on the piano by “Queen.”
