The CF6 is a seven-foot handcrafted concert grand from Yamaha’s CF Series — built by the same master craftsmen, in the same Concert Piano Workshop in Kakegawa, Japan, and from the same materials as the flagship nine-foot CFX. The CF6 delivers a rich, open sound with the tonal projection and presence of a full-length concert grand in a size suited to recital halls and serious private collections.

“Beauty” describes the CF6’s wide palette of tonal colors and its ability to create the most subtle musical voices — in the hands of a good pianist, this instrument sings. “Power” describes its tonal presence: not only fortissimo, but even soft, delicate passages carry throughout the hall. All registers project over a full symphony orchestra. The action is quick and responsive, and the bass is remarkably full for a seven-foot instrument.

A one-piece inner/outer rim — manufactured using a process developed specifically for the CF Series — produces deep, resonant sound with outstanding projection. The soundboard and ribs are European spruce selected from the top tier of available stock. A proprietary rib-to-soundboard attachment method frees the soundboard from stress, adding rich overtones and a wide range of expressive tonal colors. Four Yezo spruce back posts support the structure, and each frame is individually hand-molded and sand cast in iron.

Specific to the CF6 and CF4, the open pin block improves both the attack and sustain of every note across the full register — giving the CF6 a clarity and immediacy that belies its size.

Hammers are built from materials selected and treated by Yamaha for consistent voicing despite changes in temperature and humidity. Bass strings are hand-wound by skilled craftspeople. Every aspect of the piano wire — from harmonic wave patterns to hammer response — has been engineered specifically for the CF Series.

Ivorite white keys replicate the feel and moisture absorption of natural ivory. The black keys are high-grade ebony. Key construction throughout uses seasoned Sitka spruce. The soft-close fallboard and lid lock are standard.

The CF Series silhouette is sleek and modern — unnecessary ornamentation eliminated throughout. The polished ebony finish is applied in multiple layers with meticulous buffing between coats. The pedal lyre is redesigned to match the simplicity of the legs while being more durable and stronger than any previous model. Heavy-duty double-wheeled solid brass locking casters support the instrument’s 902 lbs. A matte lid finish is available by special order.

The CF6 is available with Yamaha’s Enspire PRO reproducing system as the DCF6 ENPRO — the highest-resolution recording and playback system Yamaha offers, paired with a concert-grade instrument.
