The GC Series sits between the GB1K and the CX: Japanese-built baby grands at 5’3″ and 5’8″ that bring in two features the GB1K does not have. Both the GC1M and the GC2 carry duplex scaling, which lets the non-speaking string lengths resonate sympathetically and adds harmonic colour, and both have a true sostenuto centre pedal rather than a practice mute.
Underneath that they share the same robust back post design, solid spruce soundboards, and V-Pro frame construction. Every GC model on our floor can also be ordered with the ENSPIRE ST Disklavier system, the SH3 SILENT system, or TA3 TransAcoustic, factory installed. Every new piano includes a bench, and every acoustic piano leaves the store tuned to A-440.

The GC1M at 5’3″ and the GC2 at 5’8″ are the two acoustic models. Five inches of extra length on the GC2 buys longer bass strings and a larger soundboard, which is where the difference in low-end weight comes from. Both are 59 inches wide and 40 inches tall, so the extra size is all in the depth.
The DGC1 ENST and DGC2 ENSPIRE ST are the same acoustic GC grands with Yamaha’s ENSPIRE ST reproducing system installed at the factory. The keys and pedals move on their own and the real strings sound. ENSPIRE ST reads 128 levels of keying velocity and 128 levels of incremental pedaling, includes silent headphone practice, and ships with 500 built-in songs.
Both systems start from the same place: a full acoustic GC grand, with the technology installed at the Yamaha factory. SH3 SILENT catches the hammers just short of the strings and routes your playing to headphones through binaural samples of the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grands. TA3 TransAcoustic uses the soundboard itself as the speaker, so those same voices fill the room at whatever volume suits it.
